Port your number
Transfer your existing phone number to CurrentClient so your clients can reach you at the same number they already know.
Want to keep your number?#
If you already have a phone number that your clients know and love, you can bring it with you to CurrentClient. This process is called "porting" and it's totally optional - if you're happy using the new number we assigned you, feel free to skip this step entirely.
Porting just means transferring your existing phone number from your current carrier over to CurrentClient. Your clients won't notice a thing - they'll just keep reaching you at the same number.
Two ways to port#
We offer two options depending on your situation:
-
Full port (calling and texting): Move both calling and texting to CurrentClient. This is the most popular choice - you'll handle everything in one app and can cancel your old provider when it's done.
-
Text-only port (SMS hosting): Keep your current phone service for calling while using CurrentClient for texts. This is great if you're happy with your voice service but want compliant texting capabilities.
How it works#
The process is pretty straightforward and we handle most of the heavy lifting:
Gather info from your current carrier
Each carrier needs different details - things like your account number and PIN. We have carrier-specific guides to show you exactly what to grab and where to find it.
Submit your port request
Fill out the port request form in the CurrentClient app with your carrier information. Takes just a few minutes.
We handle the details
We submit your request to the carriers and work with them to get it approved. If anything comes up, we'll loop you in.
Port gets scheduled
Once approved, the port gets scheduled about 7 days out, typically very early AM (1-2 AM MST) so it's ready when you wake up.
Cancel your old service
Once the port fully completes, you can cancel your old phone service. Done!
Timeline: Most ports take about 7 days to complete from the time you submit the request. Some carriers take an additional 1-3 days to transfer over outbound texting capabilities.
